Business events you shouldn’t skip this autumn 

Summer is officially winding down, and if your inbox looks like mine, it’s already filling up with “save the date” emails. September to November is when the Romanian business calendar goes from quiet to completely packed, and it’s the best window to learn something new, meet people you’ve only ever emailed, and figure out what you’re building in 2027.

And if you’re like me, you love a well curated list you can just drop straight into your calendar. I went beyond Bucharest this year, since there’s a lot happening in Cluj, Brașov and even by the seaside. Here’s what’s worth your time between now and the end of the year.

1. Biz Leadership Summit: 10 September, Bucharest 

“Leaders don’t follow change. They create it.” Organized by Revista Biz, this one deliberately breaks the usual conference format. Alongside the talks there are immersive experiences, boardroom simulations and leadership battles, the idea being that you’re part of the game rather than sitting in the audience taking notes. 

The speaker list is a solid mix of Romanian business heavyweights and international voices: Jean Valvis (Valvis Holding), Dragoș Anastasiu, Robert Anghel (CEO, Salt Bank), Cătălin Chiș (CEO, Life is Hard), Bogdan Clipici (Bolt for Business), Carmina Fusté (CEO, PMI Romania) and Matthew K. Cross from LeadershipAlliance.com. 

If your September is already crowded, this is the one I’d pick for the format alone.

2. Digital Divas: 10 September, Bucharest 

Yes, same day. Sorry, you’ll have to choose. Digital Divas is the biggest Romanian event for creators in fashion, beauty and lifestyle, and this year’s theme is “Redefine Your Reflection Through Beauty, Style and Confidence.”

Three content sections, around 20 speakers, and a gala to close the day, all at Palatul Bragadiru, which is a gorgeous venue. 

On stage: Adelina Peștrițu, Marisa Paloma, Emily Burghelea, Lorena Șerban, Nadd Hu, Krista Urmanczy and make-up artist Ana Cucuța.

If you sell to women, work with influencers, or run a beauty or fashion brand, this is where that entire ecosystem shows up in one room. Organised by Evensys. 

3. Brand Minds: 16-17 September, Bucharest

Let’s start with the big one. Brand Minds is bringing Oprah Winfrey and Seth Godin to Romexpo, along with Costas Markides from London Business School and Jonas Ridderstråle. That’s not a typo.

Be honest with yourself about what you’re buying, though. This is a “big ideas, big energy, big room” event, leadership, strategy, mindset.

If you’re looking for tactics you can implement on Monday morning, keep scrolling. If you want to leave with your head somewhere else entirely, this is the one.

4. ecomTEAM: 17-18 September, Brașov

Two days in Brașov, organised by Wall-Street.ro and IC Events. It brings the whole digital commerce ecosystem into one room: retailers, marketplaces, payment providers, logistics, and the people writing the regulations.

The 2026 edition is promised to be more international than the last one. If you run an online store and Bucharest events feel a bit too loud and crowded, this is the calmer, more focused alternative.

5. Forbes CEE Forum: 22-24 September, Bucharest

Three days at NORD Events Center, bringing together Forbes editors from across Central and Eastern Europe with business, finance and political leaders. The 2026 agenda is built around the global economic landscape, financial strategy in an unpredictable world, Industry 5.0 and leadership in turbulent times.

Many national and international names are confirmed so far from many industries such banking, retail, health, telecommunications etc.

6. EXPO RETAIL: 23-24 September, Bucharest

The 5th edition, organised by retail-FMCG.ro under the theme Digital, Green & Tech. What I like about this one is the venue: it’s hosted at Politehnica University, which gives it a slightly different, less corporate feel than the usual hotel ballroom setup.

Retail tech, sustainability and digital transformation, all in the same place. Good fit if you sell physical products and you’re wondering what the shelf looks like in three years.

7. DevTalks Cluj-Napoca: 24 September, Cluj

The 9th Cluj edition, with 2,500+ developers, 50+ speakers and three stages: Main, Programming and Java.

Here’s my honest take on why this matters even if you’re not technical: it brings together developers, tech leaders, and innovators to connect, learn, and explore the future of technology. Not to mention that Cluj Innovation Park is a genuinely a nice place to spend a day.

8. Impact Bucharest (Impact SEE): 29-30 September, Bucharest

Yes, Ryan Reynolds is speaking. That’s the headline everyone’s sharing.

But the session I’d clear my schedule for is Anna Lembke, the Stanford psychiatrist who writes about dopamine and what the digital economy is doing to our attention. If you build things online for a living (websites, content, campaigns) that talk is going to sit with you for a while.

Two stages across Romexpo, 200 renowned speakers, 9 thematic tracks, 3,000 international participants, and Face Convention Center.

9. RePatriot Summit: 1-4 October, Bucharest & the seaside

The 11th edition, and probably the most unusual format on this list. It opens on 1 October in Bucharest with the Top 100 Români de Pretutindeni gala, then moves to Hotel Iaki on the coast for panels on 2 October, followed by two days of informal connection, conversations and surprises.

The whole point is connecting Romanian entrepreneurs living abroad with opportunities back home. So, if you’re looking for export partners, clients in Western Europe or the US, or you’re just curious about the diaspora business network, this is the one event a year built specifically for that.

10. Business Days Cluj: 6 October, Cluj-Napoca

“We Care. We Build. We Grow.” This year the 56^th edition of Business Days Cluj moves to Elitis Events Center, up in Făget with a view over the city, a nicer setting than most conference venues, which honestly matters when you’re there all day.

What I appreciate about Business Days is that they’re openly anti-small talk. It’s structured B2B networking with founders, CEOs and investors, plus applied workshops on AI, sales, leadership and access to capital. You go there to have specific conversations, not to collect tote bags.

11. How to Web: 6-8 October, Bucharest

If I could only go to one event this autumn, it would probably be this one. This year’s theme is “What will you build when you can build anything?”, and I’ve been thinking about it far more than I expected to.

I build websites for a living. The tools that used to be my advantage are now available to everyone, for free, in a chat window. So, the question isn’t rhetorical for me, and I suspect it isn’t for you either. Speed used to be the edge, but now it’s the entry ticket, and direction is what’s left.

The format is a three-day arc:

• 6 October is Day 0, when side events open across the city and the Investors Summit happens;
• 7 October is the main conference opening with three stages, 1:1 matchmaking and the expo floor;
• 8 October goes deeper with keynotes, roundtables and the closing party.

Over 3,000 people from 40+ countries, with speakers from OpenAI, Meta, Google and Stripe, plus investors from Atomico, Eurazeo and Credo Ventures. There’s also Spotlight, the pitching competition for early-stage startups, and a demo area if you want to put your product in front of a genuinely tough audience.

12. GPeC SUMMIT: 13 October, Bucharest

The 21st anniversary edition, at the National Theatre, and Neil Patel is coming back. He spoke here in 2015 and 2017, and this feels like good timing: paid acquisition costs have gone up for basically everyone, and organic traffic is suddenly a serious conversation again instead of a nice-to-have.

That’s my corner of the world, so I’m biased, but if you run an online store and you’ve been quietly panicking about your ad spend, this is your day. You get a full day of conference, GPeC Expo running in parallel (only 25 exhibitor spots), and the Networking Soirée in the evening with 200+ C-level people from the industry.

13. Climate Change Summit: 13-17 October, Bucharest

Five days, with the main event on 14 October at the Palace of Parliament. This year’s theme is “Infrastructures of our Future”,  energy security, the new industrial and food economy, nature as critical infrastructure, technology, and the finance and governance needed to make any of it work.

I know “ESG” makes a lot of small business owners’ eyes glaze over. Here’s the practical version: if you supply anything to a large company, they’re going to start asking you to prove your sustainability numbers soon. Better to understand the requirement before it arrives as a deadline in an email.

14. IQ Digital Summit: 15 October, Bucharest

Mo Gawdat, Former Chief Business Officer at Google X, is in in Romania for the first time. He now writes bestsellers about happiness and about what AI is going to do to all of us. His most recent project, the documentary Chasing Utopia, got compared by The Times to An Inconvenient Truth.

In an autumn full of “AI will make you more productive” talks, this one is a useful counterweight. Also speaking: Riaz Shah, former EY Senior Partner and Hult professor, who apparently scored 93.2% “exceptional” with Romanian audiences on the previous IQ Digital tour.

Organised by Upgrade 100 and George Business. 

15. Bucharest Cybersecurity Conference: 20-22 October, Bucharest

Three days, 100+ speakers, 1,200+ attendees, organized by DNSC, Romania’s national cybersecurity directorate. Speakers include people from ENISA and the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre.

I’m including this because a surprising number of people who own a website think security is somebody else’s problem until the day it very much isn’t. If you run an online store, handle customer data, or just have a WordPress site you haven’t updated since 2023, spend a day here.

16. Webstock: 23 October, Bucharest

The biggest social media and online communication conference in Romania, and the one event a year where the people who set the tone in Romanian digital marketing all show up in the same room.

The format is a single packed day at JW Marriott: four sections, around 30 speakers, and the Webstock Awards gala to close it out. Previous editions brought together content creators, brand managers, agency professionals, and platform representatives, featuring speakers from TikTok as well as marketing leaders from Vodafone, Raiffeisen, and L’Oréal. The 2026 lineup hasn’t been announced yet, so keep an eye on the site.

Here’s why I go every year, even though I don’t work in social media: websites don’t exist in a vacuum. Most of their traffic comes from somewhere else, and increasingly that source is short-form video, creator recommendations, or conversations happening in comment sections. Understanding how those ecosystems work helps you build and grow better digital products.

17. DevCon: 4-5 November, Bucharest

The 8th edition, 3,000+ participants, and six specialized mini-conferences running in parallel: AI, Data & Cloud, DevOps, Java & Go, Cybersecurity and DeepTech.

The part I find most interesting is the masterclasses, small groups, around 20 people, working hands-on with international trainers. That’s where real learning happens, and those spots go fast.

18. GoTech World: 10-11 November, Bucharest

Think of this one as a technology supermarket. 15,000+ business visitors, 100+ exhibitors, 11 themed stages covering AI, cybersecurity, digital marketing, sustainability, product & UX and more.

Here’s how I use it: walk in with an actual problem (you need a CRM, your invoicing is a mess, you’re not sure your data is safe) and walk out having compared three real solutions face-to-face with the people who built them. It’s genuinely the most practical event on this list if you’re a small or mid-sized business about to spend money on software.
